Billionaire Gautam Adani is entering the oil drilling rig business to expand Adani Ports and SEZ Ltd’s (APSEZ) marine services vertical, aiming to triple its revenue by 2027.

Targeting offshore oil and gas fields in the Middle East and Africa, APSEZ plans acquisitions and fleet expansion—including drilling rigs, utility boats, and anchor handling vessels. Leveraging its expertise in port ecosystems, APSEZ recently acquired Astro Offshore and Ocean Sparkle to enhance global reach. It holds a dominant 75–76% tug market share in India and operates over 160 vessels. With ventures like Al Annabi Marine in Qatar and a push into high-margin, contract-driven marine assets, APSEZ seeks to capture the full offshore logistics value chain across Southeast Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
