Partnership to accelerate India’s 500 GW renewable energy target by 2030.

IGL, RVUNL Form JV to Develop 500 MW Solar Project in Rajasthan.

Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL) and Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd (RVUNL) have signed a joint venture agreement to set up large-scale solar projects in Rajasthan, starting with a 500 MW plant. The agreement was formalised in Jaipur in the presence of senior officials, including IGL Managing Director Kamal Kishore Chatiwal and RVUNL CMD Devendra Shringi. Under the JV structure, IGL will hold 74% equity while RVUNL will own 26%. The board will comprise six directors, with four nominated by IGL and two by RVUNL. Chatiwal said the partnership marks a key milestone in IGL’s net-zero journey and diversification into renewables, with long-term plans to build up to 2 GW of solar capacity. Rajasthan’s high solar potential will play a crucial role in meeting India’s 500 GW renewable target by 2030. IGL Director (Commercial) Mohit Bhatia added that the JV will create sustainable value while supporting India’s clean energy transition.
