Har Ghar Solar, Har Ghar Bijli — India Shines Brighter

India’s clean-energy transformation continues to gather pace as rooftop solar installations reach 23.96 lakh households, achieving 23.96% of the target under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. Minister of State for New & Renewable Energy Shripad Yesso Naik informed Parliament that the scheme aims to equip one crore households with rooftop solar by FY 2026–27.

As of December 3, 2025, more than 53.54 lakh applications have been submitted and 19.17 lakh systems have already been commissioned across India. The country has installed a total of 7075.78 MW of rooftop solar capacity, marking a major milestone in residential solar adoption.

To ensure system quality and long-term performance, the ministry enforces stringent standards for modules, inverters, wiring, and protection equipment. All installations undergo inspection by local DISCOMs, vendors must provide 5-year mandatory maintenance, and third-party audits cover at least 1% of plants nationwide.

The scheme also offers generous subsidies of up to ₹30,000 per kW, making rooftop solar more affordable and accelerating adoption across urban and rural households.
